Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative:
The Indian Ocean Beach Resort is a member of the Kenya Sea Turtle Conservation Committee in caring for turtle nest eggs. They take an active role in regular turtle egg care and professional safe release of turtlings back to the ocean.
Part of the International Coastal Clean-Up, the Indian Ocean Beach Resort is a part of the steering and planning committee, coordinating the south coast region ICC functions in conjunction with the director of Green Future Ltd for the Kenyan Chapter.
The Indian Ocean Beach Resort care for the primate community at the local compound, providing the unit natural habitat and feeding zones and being an active conversation member of the colubus monkeys in conjunction with Colubus Trust - Diani.
Environmentally friendly management involves the collection and decomposition of vegetation waste and recycling it for the lawns manure. The Indian Ocean Beach Resort coordinates beach clean ups in the south coast region, which guests are welcomed to participate in.The Indian Ocean Beach Resort also care for the destination by providing water to the nearby Kongo Mosque, providing children homes and rehabilitation centers with used items such as tables, seats, bed sheets, towels etc; and starting local football and volleyball teams that are already competing at a national level.
