Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative: 

At Sheshe Baharini we have always held a strong belief that the benefits of tourism should be shared with the local community and in harmony with the environment. To achieve this balance we are committed to doing the following wherever possible by:

• Employing staff and tradesmen from the local community.
• Purchasing supplies and produce locally. In the case of fish and crustaceans, we ensure they are of acceptable or full size, to ensure a healthy re growth of the marine population for the future.
• Encouraging the continuation of traditional skills by using local carvers and craftsmen for work in the hotel.
• Respecting the moral and cultural codes of the community.
• Providing some of our beachfront for the local fishermen to store their boats and equipment.
• Using power saving room keys, so that there is no unnecessary usage of power.

We also support the local "Asente" project for orphans and single mothers, providing them with a free Montessori education, healthcare, balanced and nutritious meals and basic life skills to be self supporting.
