Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative: 

The Mwaluganje Tented Camp set amidst the Mwaluganje Elephant Sanctuary, is owned by the Travellers Beach Hotel. The staff of the camp and sanctuary have been recruited from the local community, in order to provide them with a livelihood and protection for the elephants and other local wildlife.

Proceeds from the sanctuary are channeled back into local community projects which include a factory set up to produce paper from elephant dung.
